Beach Areas at Ban Krut
Ban Krut has any number of beaches and each seems to have a bit of a personality. The most visible beach areas are along the road, both left and right from the “T” intersection. The beaches are good for swimming, sunning and strolling.
A sand bar offshore tempers the surf — however, Ban Krut Beach will surely never be called “Surfer's Paradise”.
About the only negative thing one might say about that long stretch of beach is that you need to cross the road to get to the sand and surf.
North of Ban Krut
If you travel further north, around the lovely temple perched on the hill, you will find a section of Thongchai where many of the resorts are actually on the beach. This is a great area for families with kids as there is no problem with traffic. It's also a bit quieter.
Kids and adults alike may have some fun looking for what seem to be “mica” that has a colorful iridescent layer. I once thought of trying to make some simple jewelry with it — but ..
Look for the material along the waterline on the sand, especially at low tide.
South of Ban Krut
Ban Krut Beach runs south for several km. I'm not sure where Ban Krut Beach officially ends and Samran Beach officially begins, but it may be were the road fronting the beach crosses the canal/klong.
The beach areas between north of the bridge are not quite as tidy as Ban Krut Beach, but in some respects they offer a more natural experience. In some areas the road runs along a cliff, so you may need to climb down.
